LONDON, Sept. 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Verizon Business and Visionable, a leading UK-based healthcare technology company, announced today that they are expanding their partnership that will allow both companies to participate in a number of connected health solutions, via Visionable’s patented technology powered by Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband and 5G Edge network in the United States
Verizon and Visionable are partnering on a secure, next-generation digital healthcare collaboration platform that enables healthcare professionals to access data, collaborate and share resources across APAC and EMEA. The partnership aims to address some of the biggest challenges in healthcare, including connecting first responders with specialists in emergencies and enabling access to community-led care for patients who need long-term support.
“The healthcare industry generates vast amounts of data, but its ability to make meaningful use of that data has long been hampered by network architectures that cannot efficiently, securely, or cost-effectively process it. By combining 5G and edge computing, healthcare facilities and professionals have access to secure, near real-time connectivity, creating a new connection between doctor and patient. As a result, diseases could one day be diagnosed and treated more quickly, and medical costs could potentially decrease,” said Scott Lawrence, senior vice president of Verizon Global Solutions.
Today’s announcement follows the launch of Visionable’s private 5G-enabled Connected Healthcare Center in the UK in May. The center will demonstrate the benefits of next-generation connectivity and collaboration throughout a patient’s care journey, from emergency and emergency care, to virtual wards, to in-person care and rehabilitation, powered by Verizon Private 5G.
“Our partnership provides real-time connectivity and productivity when and where it counts and costs. Together with Verizon, we are committed to empowering our healthcare teams by enabling them to bring healthcare to patients wherever they are,” said Alan Lowe, CEO and co-founder of Visionable.
This commitment is part of Verizon’s ongoing strategy to work with customers, startups, universities and large corporations to explore how 5G can disrupt and transform nearly every industry. This includes Verizon’s strategic partnership with Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, where Verizon is partnering with Emory Healthcare to advance the development of 5G Ultra Wideband healthcare solutions.
Today’s announcement builds on the company’s network-as-a-service foundation and supports its growing home networking, mobile edge computing and business solutions.
