Stevenson, Mayweather, Joyce-Parker: Boxing TV schedule Sept. 22-24

ESPN+ and social media11:00 a.m. ET, Stevenson vs. Conceicao press conference.

ESPN+ and social media1:00 p.m. ET, Stevenson versus Conceicao weigh in.

ESPN+ and social media9:00 a.m. ET, Joyce versus Parker at the weigh-in.

ESPN+6:00 p.m. ET, Stevenson vs Conceicao preliminary rounds. This is the currently listed time, sometimes this is increased a bit if a fight or two is missed during the week. Anyway, the usual Top Rank Prelims stuff. Bad Left Hook will be broadcast live.

ESPN and ESPN+10:00 p.m. ET, Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao. Stevenson is defending his WBC and WBO junior lightweight titles against the best available opponent, and Conceicao can definitely fight, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist whose pro career stalled until he fought Oscar Valdez and lost a very controversial decision. Stevenson smoked Valdez, of course, and the odds will rightfully favor him heavily here; he has shown special talent. This could also be the last fight Shakur does at 130 because he just runs out of fights unless Emanuel Navarrete wants to come up, which was discussed didn’t go very far and we ended up with that instead. But things could change. Anyway, it’s a good fight and a rare marquee event on Friday for Top Rank. Keyshawn Davis is also in action. Bad Left Hook will be broadcast live.

DAZN and social media12:15 p.m. ET, Hughes vs Galahad preliminary round.

DAZN2:00 p.m. ET, Maxi Hughes vs. Kid Galahad. This was supposed to be Leigh Wood vs. Mauricio Lara, which I thought would be anything as long as it took, but Wood got injured and this is the new Main Event. It’s a chance for Galahad to get going at 135 after losing his title at 126 last year and Hughes has had a really good run. It’s not a bad fight, the stakes are high for both guys and the card also features Hannah Rankin defending her 154lb WBA belt against Terri Harper, who’s trying to follow in Tasha Jonas’ footsteps and basically to jump from 130/135 to 154 Take advantage that there is basically no depth in women’s boxing over 140lbs. Right now we’re seeing everyone’s schedules change to have or not have live coverage of this. Bad Left Hook may be broadcast live.

ESPN+2:00 p.m. ET, Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker, Amanda Serrano vs Sarah Mahfoud. A meaningful heavyweight bout between two contenders for the WBO interim title. We’ve got the lumbering but destructive Joyce and former defending champion Parker, who has a knack for somehow getting through in fights at this level. That fight was supposed to happen a few months before then Parker signed with Boxxer and Sky and it seemed like it was over, but it turns out Boxxer and Sky really had no one for him and the best fight was still with Joyce, promoted by Frank Warren and fights at BT Sport who will have it at PPV in the UK. Serrano vs Mahfoud is up for three featherweight belts, and if Serrano wins as expected, she’ll go up against Erika Cruz in an undisputed bout afterwards. The rest of the map is some really solid national-level stuff: Michael Magnesi vs. Anthony Cacace, Ekow Essuman vs. Samuel Antwi, Nathan Heaney vs. Jack Flatley. Bad Left Hook will be broadcast live.

PPV, 11:00 p.m. ET, Floyd Mayweather vs. Mikuru Asakura. You can order from FITE TV for $29.99. It’s an exhibition boxing match, but that really just means that records don’t matter; As you can imagine this is full effort and not sparring like some. The last time Mayweather went to Japan for one of these, he obliterated Tenshin Nasukawa. It is part of a RIZIN map that also features MMA fights and a kickboxing match between Nadaka Yoshinari and Bandasak So Trakunpet. Basically, I have nothing else to do and some people will want to know what’s happening, so I’ll be here. Bad Left Hook will be broadcast live.
