Qatargas receives global recognition from Shell for operational safety, environment performance


Shell executives visited Qatar to present Qatargas with a special recognition award for its exceptional safety, environmental and facility management performance at Qatargas 4 (QG4) – one of its world-class Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities at Ras Laffan.
The prestigious international award underscores QG4’s sustained delivery of exceptional performance over the past two years, despite the global pandemic.
Shell gives this award to the best performing assets in its global portfolio, which includes various upstream, downstream and gas assets around the world.

Commenting on the award, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Qatargas, said: “I would like to thank our partner Shell for this prestigious recognition, which underscores our commitment to operating all of our world-class assets to first-class standards. The award was accepted on behalf of Qatargas by Ahmad Hassan al-Sulaiti, Asset Manager of QG3&4, by Tallant in the presence of Sheikh Khalid, Bourgogne and al-Mohannadi and other senior executives.
Attention to people and process safety, as well as optimizing production output, has resulted in best-in-class HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) performance and near-perfect reliability. Two important factors that have contributed to the achievement of these results are the commitment of the employees and Qatargas’ strong leadership.
QG4 is a fully integrated LNG project. It includes offshore production platforms and pipelines; onshore gas processing, treatment and liquefaction installations; and a fleet of LNG tankers. Qatar Shell was recently selected by QatarEnergy as a partner for the North Field East expansion project in Qatar, the largest single project in the history of the LNG industry.
