Geelong meets Sydney in the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

For the first time since 2017, both qualifying final winners clinched victory in their domestic pre-finals, with the Cats defeating Brisbane and the Swans Collingwood.

And although the Cats and Swans were original VFL clubs dating back to 1897, this will be their first Grand Final encounter.

WHEN DOES THE GRAND FINALS BEGIN?

The 2022 AFL Grand Final begins on Saturday, September 24 at 2:30pm AEST, returning to its traditional timeslot after two night games in Brisbane and Perth respectively.

It is the first Grand Final since 2019 at the MCG in Melbourne.

Victoria has a four-day weekend thanks to two public holidays leading into the Grand Final weekend.

All of Australia has a national day of mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 22 September while Victoria has a public holiday on Friday 23 September for the Grand Final.

Pre-game entertainment is expected to start between 1pm and 1:30pm AEST, with details on TBC.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE AFL GRAND FINAL?

The 2022 AFL Grand Final will be streamed live on Seven and 7Plus (select platforms only and up to 720p HD only) and you can stream it on Kayo after the game.

The Grand Final can only be streamed on TVs with 7Plus on Telstra TV, Samsung Tizen (2016 and up), Fetch TV, Apple TV, PlayStation 4 and 5, Android TV/Google TV and LG TV.

You cannot broadcast the 7Plus broadcast of the AFL Grand Final via Chromecast or AirPlay.

Otherwise, you’ll need free-to-air channels or even a simple antenna connected to your TV’s coaxial input to watch it live on TV.

WHO PLAYS IN THE GRAND FINALS?

The Geelong Cats meet the Sydney Swans in the 2022 AFL Grand Final on Saturday 24 September at 14:30 AEST.

The Cats are trying to win their first AFL premiere since 2011, having since lost the 2020 Grand Final.

The Swans are attempting to win their first flag since 2012, having since lost the 2014 and 2016 Grand Finals.

WHEN DOES THE GRAND FINALS END?

The 2022 AFL Grand Final concludes roughly just after 5pm AEST, with full details TBC.

CAN I GET TICKETS FOR THE AFL GRAND FINAL?

Club members were encouraged to enter their team ballots to register for Grand Final tickets.

More details are being confirmed, including whether there will be public presale tickets for the Grand Finals in the coming days.

WHO PRESENTS THE PREMIERSHIP CUP?

Details are yet to be confirmed as club sizes from the two participating teams are expected to be chosen to present the trophy to the winning coach and captain.

For example, Garry Lyon, last year’s champion, presented the Demons with the trophy.

WHO IS THE 2022 AFL GRAND FINAL ENTERTAINMENT?

British pop star Robbie Williams will perform as pre-game entertainment ahead of the AFL Grand Final.

Legendary Australian rock band Goanna, best known for their hit song Solid Rock, will be collaborating with First Nations artists Christine Anu, Emma Donovan, Tasman Keith and William Barton for the halftime show.

Other cast members include G Flip, Mike Brady, The Temper Trap feat. Budjerah and Ngaiire and Katie Noonan.
