Adidas will launch an investigation into allegations of misconduct against Kanye West, with whom the company had a partnership that ended in October.

In a statement released Thursday, Adidas said it is “currently unclear whether the allegations made in the anonymous letter are true. However, we take the allegations very seriously and will promptly address them.” has decided to initiate an independent investigation into the matter.

The statement follows a Rolling Stone article that suggested Adidas board members ignored inappropriate behavior by the rapper, who legally changed his name to Ye in partnership with his Yeezy brand. .

Rolling Stone says it received a letter from former high-ranking Yeezy employees to members of the executive board on Tuesday that says “Kanye West has created a toxic and chaotic environment.” “This type of response from a brand partner is something Adidas employees should never be subjected to, and Adidas leadership should never tolerate,” the letter said.

Adidas ended its partnership with Ye in recent months after a series of anti-Semitic comments. In late October, West addressed anti-Semitic comments — as well as what he has said about George Floyd and Black Lives Matter — in a 16-minute video shared on YouTube by WmgLab Records and apparently in his Adidas business. Recorded sometime after the relationship ended. along with.

“I think Adidas felt like everyone was ganging up on me that they only had the right to take my designs,” West told a small crowd.

In the video, West did not apologize for his anti-Semitic remarks but appeared to try to distance himself from any “hate groups”.

“I have nothing to do with any hate group,” West said, concluding his remarks with a prayer. “If there is any hatred towards a Jew, it does not belong (pointing to himself) because I am demanding that everyone walk in love.”

Adidas has partnered with West since 2013, when the company signed on to separate its brand from rival Nike. In 2016, Adidas expanded its relationship with the rapper, calling it “the most important partnership ever between a non-athlete and an athletic brand”.

West currently does not have an attorney or publicist representing him in the matter.
